This is Jace Everett playing “The Good Life,” from his third album, 2009’s Red Revelations. Jace Everett is a country singer-songwriter best known for his song, “Bad Things,” which is the opening theme for True Blood. “Bad Things” appears on this album, but he originally recorded it for his eponymous debut album in 2005. In fact, it appears on all of his albums. It’s a good song, and it deserves exposure, but I don’t know if it needed to be put on all three albums.
You can see why Jace Everett was chosen for the True Blood theme. His music has a creepy otherworldly element to it, but it still has an undeniable Americana to it. If you want to enjoy some badass country, I think this is a good musician to look towards.
Sincerely,
Reverend Harris
p.s. I think his first album is actually pretty weak. It feels too much like the normal, boring, pop-country that you find on shitty radio stations. His second and third albums don’t have the same feel. Pay more attention to those than his debut.
