[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

This is Kermit Ruffins playing “Panama,” from his 2010 album, Happy Talk.  It’s the opening track on the album, and it is also my favorite.  I find New Orleans jazz to be a real delight, so this song brings me great joy to listen to.  The rest of the album, though, I’m not so wild about.

The rest of the album is sappy and boring.  “High Hopes?”  “If I Only Had a Brain?”  I guess it fits the album name.  These songs certainly are happy, but they feel like they belong in the activities room of an old folks’ home.  This album came highly recommended by NPR; what a disappointment.

Still, that first song is worth listening to.

Sincerely,

Reverend Harris
