[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

This is Wanda Jackson playing “You Know That I’m No Good,” from her brand-new 2011 album, The Party Ain’t Over.  It is a cover of Amy Winehouse’s song, off of Back in Black.  A 73-year-old rock and roll legend covering soul songs from 2006 could be disastrous, but Wanda Jackson nails it.

The album is mostly covers—-“Nervous Breakdown,” by Eddie Cochran; “Rip it Up,” by Little Richard; “Busted,” by Johnny Cash; “Thunder on the Mountain,” by Bob Dylan; “Rum and Coca-Cola,” by Lionel Belasco.  It’s an eclectic mix of music,The whole album is chock full with Jackson’s characteristic growls and badass persona.

Jack White is featured on this song, and on the album’s opening track, “Shakin’ All Over,” which is another triumph for rocking and rolling.

Sincerely,

Reverend Harris
