[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

This is Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers playing “Old Spur Line,” which is found on their 2007 album, Swampblood.  It’s been a good long time since I’ve enjoyed some new psychobilly, and here is some.  Much like Heavy Trash, I think that Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers aren’t really psychobilly, they are just very rough rockabilly.  They also play some extremely raw-sounding alternative folk and blues sounding songs.  There are banjos, jugs, mouth harps, and a lot of weird and creepy distortion.

I got this album just yesterday from a local record store, where a helpful gentleman with a chopstick-like nose piercing had them playing on the stereo.  I enjoy this album a lot, but I wish I could remember which of their records he had on.  I would love to get my hands on it.

If the American tradition of music is your thing, I highly recommend this band.  They mix and match the best parts of American genres into wonderful songs that feel old and new at the same time.

Sincerely,

Reverend Harris
